Last year, Finn was asked to write music for the WWI commemorations, as he revealed on his Instagram:
“Humbled and a little nervous to have accepted a commission from the Belgian government to write a 20 minute orchestral piece to commemorate the Antipodean dead of WW1. Preparing by reading lots of fairly devastating poetry like this…”
As mentioned, the Veils have recently been busy recording a new album in LA. Not much news has come out of the recording process, but what did come out is that the band have been recording with multi-instrumentalist / producer Alain Johannes and with hiphop artist / producer El-P (also known as half of Run the Jewels).
Yesterday Finn shared an impressive list of new songs the band have been working on, currently consisting of no less than 36 titles. Below the cut is a transcription of what we think the songtitles are. Correct us if we’re wrong!
A couple of days ago Finn revealed the band are recording a new song in Los Angeles with Alain Johannes, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, recording engineer and producer, known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Chris Cornell, Arctic Monkeys and others.
“Recording a new song with the mighty Alain Johannes from Queens of the Stone Age today. Here he is playing a guitar that sounds like an underwater theremin“
A short clip of the recording can be seen on Finn’s Instagram, or below the cut.
Happy holidays from Theveils.net. Best wishes for 2015!
The dutch travelling festival ‘Stille Nacht’ (quiet night) announced Finn Andrews to be one of their headlining acts this December.
The festival will be held in three cities on december 20th, 21st and 22nd. Finn will be performing on all three locations: Lelystad (Underground) on the 20th, Eindhoven (Effenaar) on the 21st and Rotterdam (Rotown) on the 22nd.
Stille Nacht offers a broad selection of ‘quality artists’ from genres as singer-songwriter, americana and indiepop. The acts will be playing in ‘intimate and warm’ settings as living rooms, churches, and the mentioned venues.
Finn posted a message on Facebook last night (see below after the cut) along with a working list of 15 songs the band are currently rehearsing for a new record likely to come out sometime in 2015. Among the contenders listed for the new album are ‘A Bit On the Side’, ‘Iodine & Iron’ and ‘Weakness (Worse Than Hail)’, the three songs that have been performed live earlier in 2014. Recordings of these songs can be heard on the forum.
Unfortunately the Greenville Festival in Paaren, Germany has been cancelled. The Veils were due to play there on July 26th, along with Snoop Dogg, Babyshambles, Maximo Park, the Hives and others. The reason of the cancellation is most likey because not enough tickets were sold. Bought tickets can be returned.
Also, a new festivaldate has been announced. The Veils will be playing at the Reality Bites festival in Massarella, Italy on July 27th. This will most likely be the last live date before the Veils start writing a new album.

Finn shared this interesting photo and text on his Instagram today..
So, it looks like work on album no 5 will start pretty soon..
Some new album contenders (‘Weakness’, ‘Bit On the Side’) have already been performed live and can be heard on our forum.
The Veils have announced three more festival dates for the summer:
Saturday June 14th: Fuori Luggi Festival, San Damiano d’Asti (Italy)
Friday July 4th: Musique En Stock, Cluses (France)

Finn Andrews features on the new Les Bonbons track ‘Nouveau Depart’. The track is taken from their debut album which will be out on June 2nd. The band, with ex-Veils member Ben Woollacott on drums, just put the song up for download on bandcamp. The song was recorded in London in September 2013.
